At the May 23, 2013 Board of Education Meeting, Ms. Tracy Moore was appointed as the Assistant Principal for Clark Lane Middle School. Ms. Moore will officially begin her new duties this summer. Ms. Moore fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Mrs. Lynn Lynch.
Ms. Moore brings seventeen (17) years of professional experience in education to her new position. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Technology from the University of Hartford, and a Bachelor of Science in Math and Science Studies from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, she successfully completed all coursework for her Administrator Certificate at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Connecticut.
Ms. Moore is currently the Math Specialist at Jack Jackter Intermediate School in Colchester, a position she has held since August 2010. She also served as a Math teacher in Colchester (2008-2010). Prior to working in Colchester, Tracy taught math at Mansfield Middle School for ten years. In addition, she served as the Mathematics Teacher in Residence for the Connecticut Department of Education during the 2007-2008 school year. In this position she provided oversight to the implementation of the BEST program in mathematics for all grades 7-12 certified math teachers in Connecticut.
During her tenure in Colchester, she served as a teacher leader and coached teachers to improve their math instruction. She has facilitated the process of aligning the math curriculum to the Common Core State Standards and provided training to the Colchester staff.
Mr. James Sachs, Principal of Clark Lane Middle School, stated, “Tracy was an outstanding math teacher at one of Connecticut’s best middle schools, and during her tenure in Colchester she served as a teacher leader helping teachers improve their math instruction. The Search Committee was impressed with her passion for quality middle school experiences for all young adolescent learners.”
Mrs. Karen Loiselle-Goodwin, Former Superintendent of Schools in Colchester, said, “Tracy has keen insights and is not afraid to make the hard decisions. She always supports students, parents and teachers and is so professional. You will be getting a stellar individual! Mrs. Moore is an energetic, articulate, and dedicated professional and life-long learner who will inspire excellence as an educational leader.”
Ms. Moore is excited about joining the Clark Lane Middle School community. She commented, “Waterford is a progressive school district and the community supports quality education.” Ms. Moore resides in Old Lyme with her husband and family.
