About Quaker hill Elementary School

Welcome to Quaker Hill School, where our primary goal is centered around the academic and personal growth of children.

Our newly designed school is the home of approximately 415 children who come together each day to explore the world around us, discover new ways of thinking, and experience the excitement of learning. Our teachers and staff, who represent a broad range of backgrounds and knowledge, have created a nurturing environment where students feel safe and supported in their learning. The aesthetically pleasing design of the building reflects this positive atmosphere. Its bright classrooms have sensor-driven lights and are activated by motion. Our state of the art technology and breakout rooms are leading edge in education. We are proud to be the first public school in Connecticut with a geothermal system, drawing energy for heating and cooling from deep in the ground. Every one of these features contributes to an ideal climate for our community of learners.

We value collaboration and stress the importance of family involvement at Quaker Hill. At any given time, parents and friends can be seen volunteering in the library and in classrooms to enrich and enliven our students’ education. We have established a positive partnership with our active Parent Teacher Association, as well. These dedicated volunteers continue to plan and sponsor educational programs and family events that bring our school community together.

Quaker Hill is a learning community that has grown together with Cohanzie these past two years in thoughtful and decisive ways. We are excited about the year of growth, opportunities, and adventure that lies ahead. As you enter our school, you will be greeted by our welcome plaque, “Quaker Hill School - Children, Staff, Families and Community - Learning and Growing Together.” In our effort to provide the best possible experiences for our students, we are committed to that collaboration.

Respectfully,

Glenda G. Dexter
