Oswegatchie Elementary
School is a new, state-of-the art school, with approximately four
hundred students in grades kindergarten through five. This new,
energy efficient building, heated and cooled by a geothermal system, opened in
August of 2009, replacing the original Oswegatchie School which opened in
1965.
The diverse student body at our school
enjoys the many benefits of a safe, clean and environmentally-friendly
building. Our new school also affords teachers and staff the opportunity to integrate
technology into all aspects of the curriculum. Other features of our school include a cafeteria separated from the gymnasium by a stage, which is
used for band and orchestra lessons as well as for our school-wide musical and
theatrical performances. In addition to their classrooms and break-out rooms,
our students enjoy learning in the beautiful media center, computer lab,
art room, music room, and gymnasium, as well as spending time outside on the
playground and exploring the nature trail, which is located directly behind the
school.
